This webinar will provide an overview of the Paper commissioned by CONECTed, a national group of patient cancer organizations. This Business Case explores the development of immuno-oncology and precision medicine in cancer treatment. It will provide examples of successes to date and opportunities for these types of treatments to expand. It will also describe the complex regulatory process and policies for oncology drug approval in Canada that have meant unnecessary delays in getting these treatments to people who need them. Key recommendations from the Paper will be discussed. Access issues for cancer treatments have never been optimal but in these times have deteriorated further. This Paper will be one of the foundational documents to support the call for a resilient healthcare system redevelopment post-pandemic.
